New Year...New Possibilities..

One of the many resolutions that I take every year is to be more active on the blogging arena. So here I was ready to take the plunge and immediately found myself stumbling at the starting line itself. How should I break ice? Where should I put my feet as I prepare to walk? Will I be judged?

Anyways putting aside all my random thoughts and taking inspiration from the Korean manufacturer’s (Hyundai) tagline – “New thinking, New Possibilities”, here I was trying to spray some color on what this new year could mean to me, to you or anyone else for that matter.

A few days back a colleague sent a forward which had me in splits since I could so relate to it.

So moving on to more serious matters if I can say that. How do we ensure that the new year is different and better than the one that went by. Well to start with, it is definitely better since you have started thinking about it..that is really the first step. Besides, nothing really remains constant does it. Closer home, Accenture is innovating with the launch of Accenture Digital and Accenture Strategy growth platforms. Change is as much as relevant for organizations as it is for individuals. It cannot just be a mere battle to survive, unless we take the oars in our own hands the boat will not move forward.

Here is my bucket list of things which I would want to achieve or do better in 2014.

1. Be more healthy – This has to be my favorite since I keep dilly dallying around it. I plan to run a marathon this year which though not the end objective but is an important milestone in my mind. Got myself the Fitbit flex wearable gadget as well to keep track of my daily movement (YES!!)

2. Give it back to the society – During my college days, I used to visit an old age home and a orphanage occasionally. It sounds clichéd but the joy of bringing a smile to anyone is really even more than a million dollars in cash. So I will now be more proactive and do whatever I can for the less privileged.

Well I can list another 10 “To-do’s” but its not about doing a hundred different things, its about doing a couple of things right. This is just a start and I hope to stick to it which at the end of it will make my life more meaningful and fulfilled. Life is not a race with anyone but your own self. The sooner we accept this reality, the better.

Will hopefully connect with my experiences sometime.

Cheers!

Welcome to the Neighborhood Fight Club!

I never thought I would be re-entering the blogging arena so soon. I mean yeah I had settled down to the idea of blogging finally after months/years of procastination but wasnt expecting to walk that line immediately. Anyways I had to write after what happened over the past few days since there is nothing more I can do about it.

It started as one of my routine calls to mom, I had just finished running and was sitting in the park enjoying young kids playing cricket. So while talking to mom I could feel she was a bit disturbed. On much prodding she told me the incidents of the previous night. Some hooligans which were supposedly friends of a boy who stayed next door had beaten up my cousin and uncle right in front of our house. The reason?? A dispute over car parking which had led to a bit of shouting and abuses from both the families. I am not defending use of deragatory words but is beating someone over this justified. I am aghast since this is the place I have lived in for over 20 years. Our family has stayed there for even longer.Yet no one came forward to intervene, people just look wide eyed and whispered amongst themselves as a bunch of rowdy #$$@@@@# beat up my cousin and uncle mercilessly. As mom was narrating all this, I was getting angry and it was getting more and more heated up inside me with each passing minute. I was wishing and visualizing that I was there  and could teach those jerks a lesson. Of course in hindsight if that was true, it would have been 3 people injured from our family instead of 2.

The worst part is that no police report will be filed. I was flipping when mom told me that no complaint will be filed. This is because the family of this kid who started all this and got the goondas together is a known goonda family. Getting police involved would mean countless visits to the station or worse those guys might have connections and file a counter complaint against our family. My uncle and cousin who are in government jobs could lose their jobs if they ended in prison even for a day. All this sounds absurd right? Shoudnt those guys be punished? My 60 year old uncle is left with a fracture and bruises over his eye while the cousin has injured thumbs and injury all over his back. But again we are a simple middle class family. My mom doesnt want any trouble further, you can never trust what these guys might do if we complain to police. I hate this, but I have to agree with my mother. Of course the anger is there, if there is so much within me I can just imagine what my uncle and cousin must be feeling.

What has our society turned into? Are we educated people without any sense or moral values? Are we the generation which takes out a gun the second we are provoked? So my mom is right,..never curse or fight back even if the other person is wrong (I should start practicing this)..You never know how deranged that person might be. Yes, I am glad that the injuries weren't very serious. Yes, I am still burning with rage and thinking about this sociopath who called goondas to settle a score so that he can park his vehicle wherever he wants. Yes I am wishing I encounter this person in some alley so that I can beat the living hell out him. But all that is just wishful thinking. Is this the end of things? I am not sure, anger is one common human companion. Sanity says we end this now and move on. Can we move on as individuals or as a society towards living peacefully? I wonder!
PEACE!

Discovering the true " U "

We are different..yet alike...there is thin line that binds us together...yes the difference is there, that is what is exciting and enchanting !! The excitement of knowing some1, the pleasure of listening to a different set of thoughts, experiencing joys and sorrows totally different from your own and most of all the sheer pleasure of discovering our own self JUST by knowing some1 stranger to you ...
Strangers fight.. friends quarrel..lovers even have a dig at each other, the reason for this 'Indifference' is a mere difference. A difference in opinion, a difference in thought, a difference in actions.... AND then, when this difference is running amok..we take a step back in retrospect..v wonder what has gone wrong, often we might be left clueless, a wide arena..BUT no answers, a full field..BUT still no answers, an endless sky over our head..BUT nowhere to go !!!!!
LIFE is not just another 4 letter word, its an interfusion of melodrama and uncertainty.
In this present day scenario of existence, we often make a mistake in trying to expect the other to be the same as us..a slight aberration and all hell breaks loose, another mistake which we often do is to harbour expectations, ahh but that is not in our control right??? After all its pretty obvious, when we do something, its not a mere act of charity or a road side show...we expect a similar response back as well, else we get disappointed and dejected at this unjustified scheme of things..

Life doesn't stop at somebody or something but the memories last a lifetime. A donkey obeys his master else he wont get his grass, we obey our bosses else we wont receive our dough..MONEY !! Just today I came across this book which is titled - ' Money can buy you happiness ' by John Silveira. Maybe, just Maybe the statement ain't a fib as we perceive but a hardcore fact.. Why else do we spent our lives chasing money and doing things which doesn't excites us , why do parents want a well settled groom for their daughters then, dammit..is it the old adage saying.."Its all about money honey" that holds true always...!!!!!! Why do we keep leading a life the way others want us to..why does the onus not rest on us fully..!!

Anyways guys, i know i have maybe thrown several stray arrows across my first blog, yeah I'll try to improve definitely the next time... till next time people... ADIOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
